Getting work noticed...

Today will be an all-day shed day! I need to produce new stock for a show in July as the Open House in May was so much more successful than I imagined.  I have three bowls left so will need to be productive today.  I'm looking forward to doing another show - a rather different set-up this one as it's at a Garden Weekend at Parham House...and my work will be with two other woodturners' work who produce great turnings.  I don't think either of them do much colouring work, so hopefully this will make my work different to theirs.
I was also delighted to find that one of my bowls is featured in this month's Woodturning magazine. The magazine is connected to a website which has forums for different types of woodwork. I post pictures of some of my work on the woodturning forum and the magazine publishes some of these each month. It was a great thrill to turn the page and see one of my bowls staring back at me - especially as I no longer have it sitting on my piano at home, which is where my bowls generally ended up before I took the plunge to start selling them.  It can be a rather time-consuming process keeping up with all the different forums and facebook groups dedicated to woodturning that I follow, so a mention in the magazine is great publicity.

Right, to the shed I go to make a mountain of shavings for mulch on the garden!
The show is on Saturday and Sunday, 8th and 9th July. Here's a link to the house's website. Hopefully the beautiful gardens will draw large crowds and no doubt the weather will be wonderful!

What was great about the Open House was seeing people's reactions to my bowls and platters - it certainly brought more people to my website and Youtube channel and there were many kind and appreciative comments.
